Self Striping Sock Updated Today!!

The last of the Yarntini is up. It will probably be a while before I have anymore so go grab some of this beautiful Stuff!

Also I have put up a new item in the hand dyed spinning fiber section. I am now offering custom spin a sweater kits.

Right now there are 4 colourways available, but I would be happy to work with you on custom colourways…check it out!

In knitting news and I am making slow progress on the shawl…it has been ripped out 4 times and I finally picked another pattern…finally…so updates on that soon!

Inspiration can come from so many places. I count my blessings to be surrounded by such beautiful yarns that inspire me daily. When I designed Evangeline I was inspired by the cable, the yarn and the idea of what it could be. It did not ever occur to me that someone could take my pattern, turn it into many beautiful gloves and then inspire me!

Tiennie did just that!

She knit 8 pair of Evangeline and then gave them to friends and family…how inspiring!

Inspiration comes from so many places, nature, colour, people, and I find mine is so solidly rooted in knitting and am often so inspired by the yarns I see. I think a big THANK YOU is in order to all of the hard working hand dyers out there. These ladies (and sometimes men) work so hard to provide beautiful yarns for use to ogle and knit, so let’s take a moment of our time and thank a dyer!

This week I am particularily inspired by the yarns because we have a huge update this week.

Dream in Colour Smooshy in the new colour series when up today as well as a stunning new hand dyer (to us) Dyed in the Wool Handmade! Check out her fingering and Seasocks.

Today and yesterday have been amazing mail days.

Yesterday I received two HUGE boxes of Dream in Color sock yarn. I knew there was a really big fuss over this yarn and was about to find out why. Well, it is called smooshy….and it sure is! The colours are stunning  and the yarn is incredible. I am hoping that I will have it all up by Monday. I will send out a newsletter as soon as it is up.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get better this happened:

LoveSticks Self Striping yarn arrived! These are not all of the colours, but close. I was so excited I missed a few.

First of all, not only is the yarn beautiful, but it smells great too! These should be going up at the same time as the Dream in Color yarn. Two incredible yarns at once and the sale!

I quickly snagged 3 skeins of Dream in Color for a shawl, because I just want to wrap myself in it! Lucky for us all Lovesticks sent me my very own skein!

Award winning designer Jolene Mosley has created this stunning sock exclusively for The Sweet Sheep! Jolene is one of our featured designers in this round of the Sweet Sheep Sock Club.

The name of the sock and the shrug was a fluke, but we both loved the name so much that you will have 2 penelope projects from 2 designers! You can purchase this stunning pattern here  and the yarn here. If there is a colour you would like but it is out of stock, just email me and I will be happy to dye some for you.

Jolene is hard at work on more stunning patterns for us, so keep your eye on the exclusive pattern section of the store. We will also be releasing her patterns from the sock club in Feb.

Weekend Knitting!

As you can see Penelope got most of the love this weekend

I had to rip the lace back twice but thanks to a great friend I am now working on the back portion of the shrug. I absolutely love how she is coming out so far, and the Great Big Sea Silk is incredible to work with.

I also finished the first of my Sunshine Socks

I will be working on the second on Wednesday night’s Stitch and Pitch at the Blue Jays Game. Anyone else going?

Mama E also sent us some Karin’s Garden. 

She is still working on a bunch more yarns that will be coming in the fall, but in the mean time she is sending us some more of her beautiful lace shortly.

Today I have also updated the Gypsy Girl Creations Fibers and Nova Socks from Fleece Artist.

A little bird told me a few days ago that our sea silk has shipped so we will get that up as soon as it arrives.

There are lots of things in the works here at The Sweet Sheep. Thanks for the wonderful feedback through the survey, I am working on a bunch of your suggestions.

I am knitting up Cookie A’s Flicker sock in SweetGeorgia. Love the pattern, love the yarn, not so much in love with the looming deadline!

We have come up with a simply sweet berry/watermelon-y scent just for you!

We have received a great new shipment of Zen Strings which will be up for tomorrow! mmm…zen strings. I have pulled a few skeins out for myself for some Summer lace. The yarn has a great tight twist.

We have a guest Dyer for the month of August. The talented Carrie of Funky Carolina will be dyeing our august club for us. Sign up by the 15th to get in for August! She is sure to please!

Speaking of Summer lace Anne of Knitspot has sent us a big bunch of incredible lace patterns including the wing o the moth pattern.

Have I mentioned that I love this shrug?

Ok…I mean this cuff. This was the first day’s progress. I have since started the first pattern repeat but, have cut  my knitting time a little short in order to get all the clubs out for the first week of the month.

I spoke with dream in color yesterday…we are looking at about a 2-3 week wait time for the yarn…not too bad!

I have also been updating the shop with beautiful Spindles and some really incredible needle holders from Offhand Designs. You will notice that they are in the Knitting bag category…yes we have some really cool bags coming from a new designer…not seen in the knitting industry yet, but we had them make a few special pockets for us!

I have some yarns for Monday’s update…there will be Seacoast (yes I am still promising this), Great Big Sea Silk, spritely good rovings and more batts and some Sweet Sheep rovings. I have been dyeing up a roving storm and loving every second of it.

In Run For the Cure news!
