Ah Monday!

My Monday updates are giving me a new reason to look forward to the first day of work!

This Monday I will have:

Zen Yarn Garden In-sync sock yarns with matching heels and toes

A few Rowen Books

6 New Colours of JITTERBUG!!

Nature Cotton

2 Amazing new Colours of Malabrigo

And Louet Gems!

Sounds like a good Monday to me

I finally got tired of waiting for the warehouse to send the Jitterbug to me, so I decided to go pick it up…it is only an hour away from my house. So off I went to the yarn warehouse…yes, a yarn warehouse…it is the thing dreams are made of!

There is Noro, Debbie Bliss and Rowen Galore! It is very hard to keep your head about you! I came out with 6 stunning colours of Jitterbug with two of them semi solids…an amazing merlot and plum colours!

Then I passed the Malabrigo…I tried to walk by, but there were two colours that I simply could not pass up.

mal.jpg

Love them!

Then I moved on to the Nature Cotton, there are so many beautiful colours!

I passed the Debbie Bliss section, there it was…pure silk…I am not the stealing type of girl…but this yarn made me want to stick it in my bag and run! I resisted and moved on.

Has anyone  used this yarn??

Do the Jitterbug

I have seen this yarn all over blogland and have been so excited about trying it myself. The yarns is wonderfully squishy! I really should finish my second pedicure sock, but a little sock on the needles won’t be a big distraction! With the arrival of spring I have been inspired by sooo many yarns and patterns that I am jumping from project to project. Usually I am very good about sticking to one until it is done, but alas there are too many tempting  yarns.I will not allow them all to become UFO’s, but just on hold for a moment…am I convincing you…or me?

Ok so back to the Jitterbug. I have picked out this yarn (yes I know…pink, you are all shocked) and this pattern. I have had my eye on that pattern since she waltzed into the store. I think I will go without beads simply because I want to start today and don’t have any that size.

So Off I go to start these socks and finish my March Sweater Madness Sweater!

Coming Soon!

insync.jpg

These are the In-Sync sock yarns from Zen Yarn Garden that will be up in the shop possibly Friday, but probably Monday…the reason being that I think we have had a good run on the update this week and mostly because I am hoping for the Louet Gems, Brooklyn handspun and Cookie A patterns to arrive this week.

They are all in the mail and on their way…also in the mail is our long awaited Yarn Pirate! I hope it is here by the end of next week and we can make these Monday updates a regular thing.

Pedicure Socks!

I did not have a lot of knitting time this weekend (boo) but I did manage go get some work done on my pedicure socks.ped.jpg

My main goal on these socks was to see if I could get a pair of short socks out of 2 balls of the Katia bamboo and the answer is yes. I wear a size 9 shoe and will have no problem getting the socks out of two balls. I will be doing the oposite contrast with the other sock…main colour being the green and pink highlights, and then I want a cantaloupe and Banana pair!

ETA: We had so much fun with the March Sweater Madness that we will be doing an April UFO sighting. We all found the blog to be fun and encouraging which helped us finish our projects, so we wanted to keep the support going and extend an invitation to you all to come and knit with us. We will all pick a UFO from our pile and show it on April 1st and knit together for the rest of the month.

If you would like to join just send me an email or leave me a comment and I will send you a blogger invite!

Flavor of the month

I just put up a super cool new club called the Flavor of the month club.

Many of you have been asking for a club with similar structure to the Fiber club so here it is….the Flavor of the month club!

The Flavor of the month club will run for  2 month sessions or 4 month sessions with a yarn and pattern.
Each month you will receive a skein of yarn for socks or lace and a pattern to go with it.
The club will mostly focus on sock yarn, but there will be other weight yarns going in to spice things up a bit!
All yarns will be dyed by the Sweet Sheep and all patterns will be from outside designers.
These patterns will not be exclusive to the club, but will be fun and wonderful to knit.

The club will commence in May.  With the first Mailing going out on May 10th, subsequent mailings will be the first week of the month.

2 Month membership will be $64
4 Month Membership will be $128

Spots are now being pre sold…please note first Mailing is in May.

This club will allow me some creative outlets, I am so excited about the options I have for dyeing with this club, there will be semi solids, varigated, kettle dye…the list goes on!

Please also note: Credit Cards are charged at the time of purchase…The reason for this is that I have no access to your information, these transactions are handled by  a secure 3rd party company and I NEVER see your information or anyone else who may be around here. This is the best way to ensure that your Credit Card transaction is safe.

Monday Update

Monday’s update will include:

sKNITches bebop yarns

Seacoast Panda Yarn

“Secret Dyer” rovings…remember this?

Also Jitterbug in 3 colourways…more to come!

sKNITches

Ok first of all sKNITches are here. I will try…TRY to have it up tonight…I will let you know after I photo it when it will go up…it is the varigated yarns with a super cool new colourway called “SHOWGIRLS”

I will do my best…also…part of the jitterbug order came in too…much of it is on back order so I will try to get that up too.

Back to sKNITches…so Sam sends me the box and a terribly BEAUTIFUL skein in her kettle drum yarns which is the merino/bamboo. Now she sent a stunning pink…I instantly licked it (you know…like bread at Christmas) to make sure no one else could have it! I probably should have noted that I was alone…but none the less…so I have made an executive decision and decided to bring in the kettle drum and varigated on a regular basis…so hopefully in about 3 weeks we will have these beautiful yarns in scores!

Yarn Pirate is just about to ship to us as well as Zen Yarn Garden with the matching toes and heels! Brooklyn handspun is on it’s way…I swear. I have also ordered some Louet Gems to go with the Cookie A patterns that are coming…probably 2 weeks on those too. And a new dyer…it is a secret though.

On the knitting front, I decided I must cast on with this beautiful Katia Bamboo…something summery.

kat.jpg

What better than some pedicure socks in bamboo! I am figuring it will probably take 2-3 balls to knit up these babies. I desperatly need a pedicure so why not some bright socks!

In the DK weight these are knitting up fast…I am using size 2 DPNs and will be striping the colours. The pattern is from my head…just making a basic sock with no toes…but I think there is a pattern on knitty….ah yes HERE IT IS.

My socks will be anklets, I love a good anklet and believe it or not I wear them all through the winter, I really dont’ like medium size socks…it is either anklets or knee highs for me.

What length sock do you prefer?

Ramblings about a boo boo

Isn’t it amazing the things that stick with us from childhood? Today while I was preparing for my dye session I cut myself. It is a small cut on my baby finger, but my first reaction was….I need a band aid.

Now…it was not bleeding, nor did it really hurt, but my first thought was that I needed to get a bandaid on it before it started hurting. It really didn’t occur to me that even if I didn’t get it dressed that it still would not hurt…it was a simple reaction from my childhood to do as my mother had done all my life. So I went upstairs and found my big bird bandaid and wrapped up my tiny little cut.

I feel much better now! Yes, it is true that I do have a bit of a weird thing about cuts…maybe I should do that 5 weird things about me meme, but it really struck me that something is so engrained in me from the way my mom cared for me in my child hood.

I know it seems silly, but it was a real realization for me. Today I count my blessings that I have a mom who was there to kiss my boo boo’s.

Don’t Be Koi

Ok some little and I mean little progress on my Koi Knee Highskoi.jpg

Progress has been…well none…due to all the work on my March Sweater Madness Sweater.

Want to see that progress too?

msm.jpg

This is the front…right before I divided it to work the neckline decreases. The Shelridge farms is amazing! There is a slight and beautiful variation in the pink. I have made the sweater big enough for a nice an baggy sweater..perfect with jeans…I can’t wait to wear it.

I have many other plans for the shelridge yarns…they are simply wonderful and the yardage is great. Needless to say this has slowed my Koi knee high progress.

I decided to work on them today as I was really itching to work on some socks and as most of you know have a soft spot for knee highs! I am planning on incorporating a lace pattern into the side of the sock..but have yet to decide what I want.

I also have a pair of socks going in Heather’s Cupid colourway…I’m calling them Stupid Cupid…I know…clever!

In shop news…I was dyeing up a storm this weekend and will have new merino/tencil Semi Solids for you late this week as well as some varigated sweet socks and maybe some fine fingering semi solids if I can find the time to wind it all.

A few emails came in letting me know that yarns are on their way into the store, these yarns should be up next week:

All Things Heather, Seacoast, sKNITches varigated, and Brooklyn Handspun.

I will let you know when they go up…and try to keep my hands off them as much as possible…no promises.

As spring approaches what are you working on? I find that I mostly knit socks through the summer…yes wool socks…oh and for you Cotton/Lycra Sock knitters there are 2 colourways in the new C*EYE*BER FIBER Cotton Sock. More colourways coming soon!

So fill me in on your current projects or your plans for spring knitting.
