Back to the Bee…ginning

Sigh, It has come to my attention that I have to rip the Bee. I have not had a lot of time to work on the shawl because I am behind in my sockapalooza socks, but I was really proud of my progress so far. Maybe it was this pride that lead to my downfall.

I was surfing around ravelry looking at the bee shawls and I noticed something different on EVERY SINGLE SHAWL that mine didn’t have.

Here is mine before the ripbee1.jpg

.Ok so the cast on is different…hmm…it might still be ok..right? So I posed the question on the Bee Fields Kal apparently the consesus was to rip. I am not a fan of frogging…I don’t let go of my work that easily, but I seem to have no choice in this matter as the shawl will not graft properly. Sigh.

I havn’t done it yet…I seem to be lacking the heart. I keep telling myself, “well you have other projects to work on before the bee anyways so why not just let it sit a few more days”

Seperation anxiety!

In good news All Things Heather is up, so I stole a few skeins to make myself feel better.

Malabrigo lace is also up…in case you want to make your own rippable bee!

Anyone want to share their frogging stories with me?

The Sun has come Up!

I did a little update today!

Sunshine yarns are up in the Sunsilk and the Twist. We also have all 4 Harry Potter Dragons!

Cherry Tree Hill Sockittome is up!

I also received a few other boxes of fantastic goodies, All things Heather has finally arrived as well as our Malabrigo Lace! Both of these will go up by Monday.

A few of you asked me which colourway this sock was:

sunshine.jpg

It is Rosey Posey…and still pretty much looks like that…I have picked up the stitches, but have been working on my flicker sock and the Bee Fields shawl.

How about some Sunshine Yarns Eye Candy!

A Good time had by all

This weekend was a much needed break for me and a total blast for everyone. We had some great time with friends, great time with each other and saw some great bands.

c2.jpg

C and I really enjoyed this band Scythian they were fantastic.

In between all of the fun I did manage some knitting.

bee.jpg

The beginning of Bee Fields, I have finished the set up rows and am just getting into the pattern. The actual pattern is really well written and very clear on instruction. I dyed the yarn myself in a not yet named colourway.

My traveling project was my Sunshine Yarns (coming this week) sock.

sunshine.jpg

I was SO impressed with the varigation of this yarn. It is simply fantastic. The progress was a little slow…but I was busy having fun! The sock and I get along fine, but the needles are a bit of another story. The are really great for knitting, but we are on a break right now. I will not gross you out with the details but let’s just say that an inch of the needle ended up going through the top of my foot and I am having a bit of a difficult time getting around today…fickle needles!

The Sweet Sheep Sock Club is up for sale today! Space is limited so grab yours now! Starts Shipping in September!

Torn

Ah July, mid summer and loving it. C and I are going to hippy fest this weekend in our camper van for some fun with 15 of our closest friends. I am really enjoying the summer and am so SO excited about the preparations I am making for fall. I am really torn between wanting all these stunning yarns to come in and not wanting summer to end. It is hard when you have yarns like Sheepaints coming your way…have you seen this yarn???

It is simply beautiful. I had so many of you asking me for Wollimise, but I have found Sheepaints instead and am thrilled to have them onboard. I also have a few other yarns that you have requested coming, Cherry tree Hill Sockittome and some Malabrigo lace. I am really excited about both of these.

We already have a great selection of CTH so why not add this fantastic yarn, at your request.

In the way of hand dyers coming in, we have a bunch of new (to us) very talented dyers such as Rabbitworks, Lotus Yarns, Love Sticks self striping, Annabelle yarns, Knitting Sunshine and more.

Rabbitworks and Annabelle yarns are home grown yarns and we will be the exclusive online home for Annabelle BFL Sock and Cashmere Sock. All of her yarns are named after Faeries!

Not to mention Camelspun and Cashmere lace coming from Handmaiden…but I can’t tell you everything..I have to keep a few tricks up my sleeve!

In the way of knitting I have finished my first flicker sock so I should have pictures for you on Monday. I have also finished a pair of socks for C as he was complaining about not having any socks so I knit him up some STR and am just doing the toe decreases.

Next on the needles I am planning a shawl…have you seen Knitspot’s Bee Shawl? I could not resist…we will have this pattern in about 6 months but I couldn’t wait. Last weekend I dyed up some rose lace and will be casting on tomorrow. I expect this to be a VERY long term project as I am a pretty slow lace knitter and always have socks on the go. I can’t help it, I have to have a pair on the needles at all time…actually 2, one stockinette for travel and waiting rooms, lines ect…and one with a pattern for fun.

So I have my Flicker socks with pattern and will be casting on some stockinette on the drive to hippy fest. I have a bunch of new yarns to knit up so it will be a suprise which I choose, but I will give you all a flash of what I chose on Monday.

As for updates next week, I have stunning knitting sunshine and SEA SILK!! Clearly, I will not be able to do photography this weekend so I am hoping for a Tuesday or Wednesday Update.

Sorry about the photoless post…if you need some photos check out my flickr!

And if you are on Ravelry look me up under sweetsheep

Have a fantastic weekend!

And the Shelridge goes to…

Leslie C!!! Congratulations to Leslie for winning this beautiful Shelridge farms yarns!

shel2.jpg

Is anyone else excited that it is Friday?? I am dyeing clubs this weekend and am SO happy to get back into the dye room.

So for some business:

Mama E co ordinates will be up monday…super beautiful artist inspired colourways of matching heel and toe yarns.

I am also crossing my fingers for a Sweet Sheep Self striping update next week…I will let you know.

Any lace knitters out there?? Any wanna be lace knitters? I found lace so intimidating when I first started a project and I was thinking of doing a club that will gradually increase in difficulty. It would be a year long bi monthly lace club starting small and growing up in difficulty. Let me know if you are interested. All yarns will be dyed by Myself in shaded or semi solids.

And Speaking of clubs…The Sweet Sheep Sock Club is back…sort of. This fall I will be doing a different type of club. It will be 3 months, by monthly, with 3 skeins of semi solid yarns and 3 not yet to be released patterns designed just for the store. There will be 2 skeins of sock yarn and 1 skein of Merino/ Tencel. 2 of the patterns were designed by Jolene Mosley who is incredibly talented and one of the patterns even won FIRST PRIZE at Maryland Sheep and wool. The Third pattern is designed by Alyson Yo Yo

Ok Yo Yo is really not her last name, but it cracks me up. The Sock Club will ship in September, November, and January. Yarns will be semi solid and dyed by me as well :-) Can you tell I like to dye?

And Last but not least it is the last few days to sign up for the Fiber Club in which Funky Carrie will be dyeing the August instalment she will not dissapoint, and the last few days for the Summer Sale!
oh..ok I lied…also new Gypsy Girl Rovings going up next week!

Have a FANTASTIC weekend!
