Odds and ends

The Sale at the shop continues! Thank you all for making it so successful! At this point next tuesday will be the last day of the sale so make sure you grab the yarns that you want while they are on sale.

I have been busy packing orders and knitting.

Here is the current state of the over achiever sweater

As you can see I am almost done! However this is how much sleeve I have to go

And this is how much yarn I have left

22.jpg

That is a bit of a problem for me. I wonder why I always seem to run out of handspun. It must be my own sweater curse. Luckily, I have some roving left over, so getting the rest of the sleeve finished will not be a problem…eventually. I need these needles for my March Sweater Madness sweater…so they might be in use when the yarn is finished…cest la vie!

Speaking of March Sweater Madness there is still time to join! I have chosen the sweater patterns, they are all very user friendly top down sweater that can be easily customized to you! There will be a lovely prize that will include some of my handspun yarn!

I was also thinking of doing a series of blog posts on the process of a handspun sweater and was wondering if that is something you would be interested in seeing?

There are lots of new yarns arriving too! There will be an update as soon as the sale is over.

We have:

Dream in Color Baby, Funky Carolina Rovings, Avery Allison yarns, Handmaiden camelspin new colours and Ceyeberfiber worsted weight semi solids!

March Sweater Madness Round 2!

ARE YOU READY FOR THE MADNESS??

As we did last year we will be doing a “knit a sweater in a month KAL” again.

This year will be similar to last year with a few twists. First of all…the first finisher wins a Sweet Sheep Prize Pack!

From last year:

I will carefully select a sweater that has a FREE pattern on the internet. All knitters will have time to be armed and ready to go by March 1st.

On March 1st we will all CAST ON and it will be a race to the finish! The Knitter who is first will win an amazing swag package from The Sweet Sheep!

You DO NOT have to buy yarn from my store to participate!

So are you in?? Just leave a comment or email me at salesATthesweesheep.com

The twist for this year is that non racers are welcome too…if you want to just knit your own sweater pattern in a month please feel free to join us. However, you will not be in the running for the prize…but isn’t knitting a sweater prize enough?

There will be 3 patterns to choose from this year…and here is your gauge and yardage info. These are guidelines as the patterns vary from each other.

You will need:

Aran/Worsted weight yarn that knits to approx 18sts by 24 rows over 4″ on needle size 8. Approx 800-1300yds.

Are you in??

Cold + Freezing rain=1/2 a sweater

I try not to complain about winter too much…I’m Canadian, it snows…I get that. However, this year I think Mother Nature is getting a bit out of hand.

That’s a lot of snow! We went up north this weekend for some wintery fun, but just got freezing rain instead. Luckily for me I brought knitting. Here is my weekend progress

Yeah, that’s half a handspun sweater! I adore knitting handspun sweaters and although spring is coming (technically..see above) I still have several more I want to knit!

I am planning on bringing back MARCH SWEATER MADNESS!!  Stay tuned for info!

Huge Inventory Sale

It is that time again my friends…time to count my inventory for taxes….I fear this more than dropped stitches in lace.

I would really rather knit…and the amount of yarn around here is not a one day job to count…so I thought I would make it easier on myself and have a HUGE sale next week.

The Sale will begin on Tuesday as I will be taking our newest holiday “family day” off to knit and gather my strength before I tackle the books!

I have been knitting and working on my newest Mag Knits submission…I will let you know when it will be up as soon as I know!

Evangelines and Updates

Inspiration can come from so many places. I count my blessings to be surrounded by such beautiful yarns that inspire me daily. When I designed Evangeline I was inspired by the cable, the yarn and the idea of what it could be. It did not ever occur to me that someone could take my pattern, turn it into many beautiful gloves and then inspire me!

Tiennie did just that!

eve.jpg

She knit 8 pair of Evangeline and then gave them to friends and family…how inspiring! evee.jpg

Thank you Tiennie so much for inspiring me back!

Inspiration comes from so many places, nature, colour, people, and I find mine is so solidly rooted in knitting and am often so inspired by the yarns I see. I think a big THANK YOU is in order to all of the hard working hand dyers out there. These ladies (and sometimes men) work so hard to provide beautiful yarns for use to ogle and knit, so let’s take a moment of our time and thank a dyer!

This week I am particularily inspired by the yarns because we have a huge update this week.

Dream in Colour Smooshy in the new colour series when up today as well as a stunning new hand dyer (to us) Dyed in the Wool Handmade! Check out her fingering and Seasocks.
