Secret Knitting

It has come to my attention that my family now reads the blog…this is not good for my holiday or wedding knitting…so I have been doing a bunch of secret knitting…but I can show you this

seasilk

I can tell you that it is sea silk and that knitting with sea silk makes me very happy!

My appologies for being such a bad blogger this year. I have plans for much blog fodder when everything in my life does not revolve around the upcoming wedding. That tends to happen 9 days before you leave. I am so very excited!

I am working on a malabrigo update and another wedding project which I will be able to blog about..since I am knitting it for myself, but just cast on last night…so it isn’t pretty yet.

Things are moving along at break neck speed…but I hope to see more of you all soon!!

xoxo

Wedding Wednesday-What the Heck? Edition.

Well, you know how they say things never go according to plan? I think that this wedding may have inspired that statement.

Due to the piggy flu in Mexico all of our flights were canceled. Not only did that cause some serious panic on my end, but also left me with some slim options. C and I weighed all of our options based on the small sliver of sanity we had left and decided to push back the date of our wedding…we will now be married in July. The decision was not easy, but the thought of planning another wedding made my brain leak out of my ears!

So, we are now looking forward to our July wedding and the good news is that Canada lifted their travel advisory a few days ago so there should be no more flight delays. With that we are moving forward with positive attitudes and greatly looking forward to our warmer summer wedding!

There has been some progress on the garter…well in fact, quite a bit of ripping and re spinning….the 2ply I spun was far too thick and so I have worked up a new single and will be attempting to cast on shortly…wish me luck with this one. If it does not work out…well…I guess I really have no back up plan at this point. Honestly, I have been avoiding the garter and working on the shawl.

The wedding shawl was a beast of it’s own kind. I ripped and knit and frogged and knit and frogged some more. At that point I decided that the yarn was simply CURSED!! And so I dyed new silk…new wedding date…new yarn…fresh start. I then decided that my brain needed mindless…this forcing of pieces was not working anywhere on the wedding…so I just let it be…a little design of my own.

It is a very simple shawl that will also be short as I dont want to fight with layers in the July Mexico heat..so it is going to equal the length of my arm span!

ETA: whoo hoo the blog is working again…it’s not wednesday..but it’s a post!
