Another Crazy Year!

At the age of 30 shouldn’t this “it’s almost my birthday” excitement wear off?

Well…it hasn’t. My birthday is coming up in May and as usual I get very excited…I don’t really know why, we don’t have huge celebrations or gifts, but I just love birthdays.

In Sweet Sheep tradition I usually hold a sale. However, we just finished a sale. So, I will be holding a contest for a $31 gift certificate to the store!

Leave me a comment here by May 14th (my birthday!) and let me know what one of your favorite birthday memories are and I will enter you into the random drawing for the gift certificate! The winner will be drawn on May 17th.

And because no post is complete without a picture, here is a basket of my recent dyes gettting ready to go up into the shop!

Happy Monday!

  1. Happy Early Birthday!

Favourite birthday memories… well. I think my all time happiest memories were from my 13-14th years… Sleepovers, with all the girls! Up all night. Watching really great 80’s movies, 16 Candles, Dirty Dancing, Top Gun… and just giggling with 7 or 8 of my gal pals! We’d have an absolute blast and no one ever told us it was time for bed, or we had to eat veggies with our pizza…!

  2. My all time favorite birthday memory was my 13th birthday. We had a big party at a fancy restaurant with all my family. It was one of the last birthdays that I had where my grandparents were there. It was so much fun and I got to feel like a real live princess with fancy clothes and a special cake. Other than that my mom was great with making fun themed birthday parties.

  3. Happy early birthday!

One of my favourite birthday memories was the birthday I spent in Ireland. Going to the Aran islands would have been a treat on a normal day, on my birthday is was extra special. Someone let it slip at the hostel and the staff surprised me with a candle in my dessert and a little present. Very special people there.

  4. Oh, I am a Leap Day baby, so my favorite birthday memories are when I turned 12(3) and my Mom took myself and three friends to Disneyland, (we lived in the greater LA area, so it was a ‘local’ trip) and my 16th(4), and I got to have two parties, one small one on my birthday, pro basketball game, and a slumber party the next weekend.

Have a wonderful birthday! It is always ok to look forward to something.

  5. One of my favorite birthday memories is of my 8th birthday when my first niece was born. She was born the week before my birthday and so my parents had to cancel (or likely delay) my birthday party so that we could go down and see her. I was so happy and excited to meet her. I opened my presents in the car ride (7+ hour trip by car) and I got one of my favorite types of gifts. It was a new doll and my mom had opened the box to measure the doll and had knit at least one new outfit for the doll. Over 19 years later my niece and I are great friends.

    Happy birthday

  6. Happy early birthday, Michelle! Oh, I totally understand that you get excited about your birthday coming up. I’m just the same, and I don’t think the excitement will wear off anytime soon!

I’ve posted one of my favorite birthday memories on my blog last year – it’s a really sweet story, and a birthday memory I’ll cherish for the rest of my life.

  7. Happy (early) Birthday! My favorite birthday was the big 4-0. My friends threw a big outdoor party for me and we had a blast!

  8. My best birthday so far, was my 50th. We had a big party in the backyard, barbeque, the whole works. And we rented a big jumpy thing! It was so much fun, we acted like a bunch of kids in the spiderman bouncey thing.

  9. This isn’t my most favorite of birthday stories, but truly the most memorable.
For my 13th birthday it was so cold that the buses would not start and school was canceled. Mom’s car wouldn’t start and the pipes in the house froze. Our Lab/Husky/Malamute dog (may he RIP) decided it would be a joyous time to run away in the -40 degree weather (-60 with the wind chill). Mom made my sister and me bundle up to find the dog, which didn’t come home for another 10 hours. He knew to come home when it was time to eat. lol Of course! However, I did get the guitar I wanted for a long time. :) It was probably the most confusing of birthdays, but a memorable one.

  10. Well, I am an almost Christmas baby so I love having the tree up every year before my birthday. It feels so nice to have such a nice decoration up on my b-day. I also recall and love the angel food cake with chocolate cream frosting my Mom used to make for me.

  11. Happy Early birthday!

My fave birthday memory is my last birthday I got to spend with my late grandmother before she passed away. I always think of that.

  12. My fave birthday memory is the surprise party my family made for my 30th. I had no idea. Usually I am the organizer and the one who plans stuff like that. I have no idea how they fooled me, but they did!!

    Happy Birthday to you!

  13. Happy almost b’day! (I’m edging closer to the big 3-0 too…)

Here’s my favorite b’day memory: when I was a kid, my mom always made me a chocolate cake and would decorate it according to whatever my theme was that year. When I was 10 my mom made me a cake decorated as a troll face (remember troll dolls?) :) She put cotton candy on it as hair but it all disintegrated into the icing. She had to add more at the last minute. haha… She put so much effort into making those lovely cakes :) I always appreciated it.

  14. Happy Early Birthday!! :)

One of my favourite birthday memories is turning 16 and having a big slumber party with my 3 closest girlfriends in the backyard.

We did stupid things and took photos (undies on our heads and bras over our shirts – classy) and sang “It Was Sad When the Great Ship Went Down” so loudly in the middle of the night that we woke the neighbours.

Thinking of it still makes me smile and shake my head.

  15. Happy early birthday!

I’m afraid I’m going to give you the opposite of what you asked for… my worst birthday memory. It was in junior high, and one of the guests to my party told me that a good friend from elementary school had just died from cancer that had come back. I’m remembering this now because I ran into his parents yesterday at my art show. If I remember, I’ll come back later and post a happy memory.

  17. Wait, are you just turning 30? You’re a bebe! :)
For two years in a row I spent my birthday in Mexico. Awwww yeah! But my best birthday memories would probably be my 30th, when I spent it at home with a just over a month old guy, and my 32nd, with a two week old hunny. :) Don’t enter me, I just wanted to be chatty. Hee.

  18. My 21st birthday. My beautiful neice Julie was born and my boyfriend gave me a beautiful garnet ring. Two gems in one day. Ah 30, I remember it well. Happy happy birthday

  19. The best birthdays were my childhood ones. When you weren’t too awkward yet to invite boys, and the one that was sweet on me would be right beside me when I opened the gifts! My Little Ponies, loot bags and my sweet mom would always make a money cake.

    Happy Birthday!
