The Talent Collection
This beautiful fall has left me incredibly inspired. My inspiration comes from many different places, but of late it has been a CD that I picked up having heard one song that just totally re-ignited my love for music and sparked my creativity.
The latest Billy Talent CD. While most of you will probably not be familiar with this band they have become one of my favorites. This CD is hard rock..which tends to be my core love of music and whether or not it is yours it has greatly inspired me with lyrics and colours to go with them.
With this kind of inspiration and creativity I am excited to introduce to you the first of "The Talent Collection."
White Sparrows is the first in a collection of inspired colourways. The song tells a story of lost love.

I have started a new fiber club. I tend to be a bit of a Superwash snob and have always wanted a superwash fiber only club, so I thought I would start one myself.
Introducing the Nothin' but Superwash Fiber Club!
The club will run for 3 Months November, December and January and will consist of 4oz braids all in superwash fibers.
Fibers may be:

Casbah and Pigenroof Updates
Our long awaited box of Casbah is here and OH MY GOD, I have never in my years of yarn fallen so in love with a single shipment…there is not one skein of this that I don’t want to keep…but if I kept it all then none of you would get to share in the Casbah joy…so here it is…please check out the shop page…it’s simply amazing what they have done with their new colours!
We also have some stunning new yarns and BFL spinning tops from Pigeonroof Studios.

Fall Fiber Club
Just a quick little reminder that the last week for the Fall round of the Sweet Sheep Fiber Club is up on the front page.
The fibers will change from month to month so you get a variety of fibers, which makes the club great for beginning spinners too!
Braids will be between 4-5 oz of roving and 2oz on months of luxury fibers.
This round of the club runs September, October, November
We are also STILL waiting for our stock to clear customs from sock summit...thanks so much for your patience.

Married and Reopened!
We did it! On July 8th I married my love with my toes in the sand and the sun on my face!
It was beautiful and all a girl could ask for.
I will be home from my Honeymoon on July 19th, but I have opened the shop back up for orders. They will be shipped on the 20th and 21st.

Wedding/Honeymoon notice
I will be away getting married from July 2nd to the 18th!
The shop will close for the first week and open back up the second week. You will not be able to place orders at all during the first week as I really hate the idea of anyone waiting two weeks for their order to ship.

Fantasic New Yarns and Fiber Club
Slowly but surely we are getting back into the swing of things and I have some Juicy updates for you!
The Funky Sheep Fiber Club
Funky Carolina and The Sweet Sheep team up again for some cross country fiber fun!
This club will run 2 months May and June, but you will receive not 2 but 4 braids of fantastic combed top! Your first shipment will contain one braid of Funky Carolina fiber and one braid of Sweet Sheep fiber…one month…two colourways! The club will be shipped at the later end of May and June.
The Fibers will be the same for each dyer so you will receive 2 of the same fiber, but 2 different colourways, just in case you want to spin them together!
Braids will be shipped together from Texas so there won’t be too many packages to keep track of and the colourways are sure to rock your socks! As this is a cross country club spots will be limited.
Shipping is included in the club cost!
lovesticks self striping sock has been updated and we also have some of the awesome DK weight left too
Also updated today is The YoYo Superwash Merino/Nylon fingering weight yarns. These are fantastic yarns for socks and will look great in any lace pattern too because of their semi solid nature!

Last 8 Days
We have come to our last 8 Days of the sale and US shipping.
Starting back in April we will be shipping from Canada again and going back to our regular operation.

Sweet Sheep News and Yarntini!
Hello Sweeties!
Chris and I are having a fantastic time on the road! We have traveled the Northern and most of the Western States and are taking a few weeks to visit with a friend in Texas.
A big bunch of our Sweet yarns have arrived in Maryland and are ready to ship including a NEW batch of YARNTINI!
We still have about 5 more lines that are on their way to Maryland and then we will be fully stocked in the US shipping side of the shop.
If you haven't been by lately take a little look at what we have available to ship to you from the USA!
Also, by popular demand I will we starting up the Sweet Sheep Fiber Club again in March...limited spots will go on sale in late January early Feb.

What is happening with the shop?
In the past year there have be a lot of personal rollercoasters of life that I have been on. It has been a difficult year, but there have also been some wonderful times too. 2008 is a year of change for me and those around me. Personally I need a break and professionally I have been working for some time to come up with an idea that will improve the shop for our wonderful customers…and by a stroke of luck both of these things are happening at the same time.
During the months of January and February I will be traveling…just getting in our RV and heading south with no real plan…just living day to day. The shop will be taken care of by a friend in the US. We have been working on this for quite some time and I am happy to say it is finally happening.
For the next few months all of the Sweet Sheep products will be shipping from Maryland. I have been taking things out of the Canadian shop and shipping them to Maryland and we will be making the transition over Christmas…this means a few things.
First, not all of our regular line will be avail in Jan/Feb. I have tried to split things up and it will be a bit of a mish mash for a while until I am able to even things out.
Second, the Canadian shop will only be closed for a few months…you will still be able to shop at The Sweet Sheep, it will just be shipping from Maryland and will not have our full line available.
I will have email access at least once a week so I will ask you to please be patient with me for email responses.
Here is the exciting part!
When I return in March we will then be re opening the Canadian shop as well as keeping the US shop running! You will be able to purchase from The Sweet Sheep in your home currency and shipping will be more affordable for our US customers and much faster. This has been something I have been wanting to do for a very long time. Canada post keeps raising our rates and I really feel that this is a better option.
My long term plan is to have both shops running parallel stock, but as I’m sure you understand it will take quite a while to even things out and I will appreciate your patience as I do this. Most of this will not be happening until we are into March, so we have some time.
In the mean time, I will be shipping from the Canadian location until Christmas, at that point we will be switching the shop over to our US location. Everything will look pretty much the same except the available stock and shipping rates, for the time being the currency will remain Canadian so that our Canuck customers do not pay any more for the exchange rate and our US customers get their bonus with the exchange rate too!
I will keep you updated as things change. I can honestly say I will be glad to close the lid on 2008 and am really looking forward to 2009 and the upcoming trip and wedding.
Thank you all for being such wonderful customers and friends, I am truly amazed at how many friends I have been blessed to meet through the shop.
I will absolutely be blogging my wonderful adventures in the new year!

Shop Updated
Well, the second last update of 2008 is done!
Malabrigo sock, Lovesticks DK and Pigeonroof studio Poseidon sock and BFL Roving are up!
Everything is just so beautiful...my sticky fingers were having trouble with this lot!
We will have one last update before Christmas with some Sweet Sheep Super Skeins and Yarntini which is on it's way! i will be sure to send out a newsletter to let you all know when that happens...for upates on it's progress check out the shop and blog!

Yes, I am still here!
All week long I have felt like poor little Timmy at the bottom of the well. I could see everyone walk by, but no one could hear me.
Needless to say the server switch did not go well at all. I won’t go into the gory details, but I was in fact unable to log into the website, my blog and on many days my email. It honestly felt like I was stuck in the well and no one could hear me. I could see you all, but couldn’t communticate. Then of course I stressed myself out about it into a good and wicked headcold, which I have been fighting all weekend. The good news is that much Christmas knitting was accomplished this weekend!
I am beyond thrilled to be back up and running! I will be updating the shop over the next few days with some amazing lovestick self striping DK and some malabrigo sock and then hopefully moving on to updating with the stunning merino/seawool pigeonroof studios that came in with her BFL roving. Stop by this evening to catch the first of the updates!

Thank you all for making the stock up for Christmas sale a huge success! There are only 2 days left!
Over the next few months you will see a lot of changes happening at The Sweet Sheep with our stock. We are moving things around and some products and categories will be disappearing for some time.
We are working on some new ideas and cooking up somethings behind the scenes, but it will take us some time to put them into effect, so we ask for your patience with us.

Sweet Sheep Fiber Club
I have been enjoying the beautiful weather in Atlanta (minus the tornado). There has been a lot of fiber discussion this week which has lead me to spark up the fiber club again! I am really excited to do the club again as I have been exploring new techniques.
Here is the official description:
The Sweet Sheep fiber Club is back with a new format!
This subscription is for 3 consecutive months of fiber. The fibers will change from month to month so you get a variety of fibers, which makes the club great for beginning spinners too!
Braids will be between 4-5 oz of roving and 2oz on months of luxury fibers.
Fibers will ship by the end of the month. This round runs from April-June.
At $70 the cost of the club includes air mail shipping.

March Sweater Madness
First of all I would like to thank you all for such a successful sale! It will continue until Tuesday March 4th.
As we did last year we will be again doing the March Sweater Madness event at the shop. This is a KAL to knit a sweater in a month. There are two options:
Option 1: I have chosen 3 patterns that I will reveal on March 1st. Pick the one you like the best and the first person to finish will win a SWEET prize pack that I am putting together including a skein of my handspun.
Option 2: A no pressure KAL where you pick your own sweater pattern and just knit along with us for the month for fun!
We would love to have you along! If you are interested in joining send me a little email and I will send you an invite for the MSM blog...it is that easy.
Gauge is approx 18x24 on US 8 needles in worsted weight yarn.

Huge Inventory Sale
It is that time again my friends…time to count my inventory for taxes….I fear this more than dropped stitches in lace.
I would really rather knit…and the amount of yarn around here is not a one day job to count…so I thought I would make it easier on myself and have a HUGE sale next week.

Things have been a little quiet on the blog, but behind the scenes it is certainly not. I have finally gotten all of your boxing week sale orders out (thank you) and am finishing getting the clubs out. Sweet Sheep Store Update!
Good Morning Yarn Lovers!
We have some fantastic updates to share with you.
There is a new Mystery Dyer at the Sweet Sheep. We have decided to structure this round a little different. First of all, we will be posting some clues as to who the dyer is. Clue #1, this mystery dyer is Canadian!
Secondly, I have noticed that several of you like to buy the mystery dyer along with other yarns and therefore end up paying shipping twice, so I have lowered the price and taken the shipping out of the cost of the skein so it can be sent with the rest of your order!
Also new to the shop is Rabbitworks yarns. Janice has worked very hard to send us an order of beautiful sock yarns from her "toe jam" line. These yarns are non repeatable and incredibly soft! Make sure to check them out!
In the area of restocking we have added more Briggs and Little, Sweet Sheep Fiber and Sweet Sheep Faerie Feet. Thank you all so much for making the Faerie Feet line a success. Keep checking back as I am working on some new Faeries to join the line!
I have recently launched a new line dyed by The Sweet Sheep called Sweet Lace. These skeins of lace are very subtle solids that work well with any lace project!
Last, but certainly not least, fans of Ceyeberfiber yarns will have noticed that Mama E has closed down the retail portion of her site in order to keep up with her wholesale demand. Store updates
It is amazing how taking 5 days off can really pile up the wonderful new yarns.
I am slowly working on getting the site updated.
Recently added:
A HUGE group of Funky Carolina Rovings! Carrie has done it again with her stunning rovings. These braids are moving quickly, so run on over and get one for yourself
Some new colours of Malabrigo Lace and Worsted. I have several other colours on backorder and will let you know when they are in.
A quick note on the Malabrigo Lace, I was forced to change suppliers and the new supplier has higher prices. This stock will remain at the lower price until I receive the new stock.
Going up in the shop today will be a wonderful new line called Marisol.
I have brought in the 100% baby Llama yarn. Yes! Baby Llama…it is INCREDIBLY soft! Marisol is a free trade company who brings their yarns in from Peru. This means that everyone is treated well and paid well for their work on these yarns. Marisol is also using their profits to build a school in the village where the yarns are made to support the local children. I had the pleasure of speaking with Jane Ellison who travelled to Peru and told me of the wonders that this company is doing for the community. It was very inspiring. I hope you will check it out.
We also have some absolutely adorable Sweet Sheep Knitting Needles coming later today. Sweetie is now perched high upon the end of you needle to help you create something beautiful. These needles are exclusive to The Sweet Sheep and in limited quantity.

June 4th update
Seacoast Yarns have been updated with LOTS of merino/bamboo and merino/tencel. The colours are beautiful and just great for some summer knitting.

I also wanted to let you all know about the Run For the Cure fundraising I am doing.
I am so honoured to be running for the cure with the Knitty.com team in Toronto.
Breast Cancer is something that has touched us all in some way or another and I would love to tell stories to my grandchildren of how we fought and came up with a cure for this heartbreaking cancer.
I am once again calling on the kindness and power of knitters to show your support. And just because we all love yarn, I will be putting together a beautiful PINK package of yarn and goodies as a prize!
